Pop Up Chic Swap: Teen Fashion Exchange for a Greener Planet

  • Center for Modern Dance Education 84 Euclid Avenue Hackensack, NJ, 07601 United States (map)

Join us for Pop Up Chic Swap, where fashion meets sustainability! This will be a fun event to refresh your wardrobe, while reducing waste and promoting sustainable fashion practices. Our event aims to highlight individual responsibility in promoting environmental wellness, while providing an opportunity for Bergen County girls, aged 11-18, to update their closets for the incoming school year. Upon arrival, clothing will be collected at tables sorted by clothing item and size. Participants will receive 2 tickets for each article of clothing they've brought. Tables will be set up and sorted by clothing item and size. Using these tickets, they may choose new-to-them items from the selection available.

Rules:

  1. Each participant is asked to bring at least one clothing item to donate

  2. We will not accept swimsuits, undergarments, or shoes.

Fast fashion has a significant ecological footprint, but through making smart choices like thrifting, we can positively impact our planet. We encourage participants to rethink their consumer habits, and embrace thrifting and recycling as alternatives to contributing to fast fashion consumption. We will display slides with information about wellness, smart decision making, and the devastating effects of fast fashion on the ecosystem. We will also have an NJ4S table set up with information and resources.
